The Seeker - The Story of Shinran Shonin Part 1 provides a vivid description of the young days of Shinran Shonin, the founder of Jodo Shinshu, spanning from his childhood to his early thirties.
It depicts his childhood difficulties, struggles for the true enlightenment in the Buddhist path, meeting his lifetime partner Eshin, and the life-changing encounter with his teacher, Honen Shonin.
The book is an English translation of the graphic novel "Manga Shinran Shonin Volume 1" which was originally published by the Higashi Honganji (Shinshu Otani-ha) Nanba Betsuin.
