"Pure Land is consistent with mainline Indian Mahayana. This idea was first inspired in me by the writings of Professor Yamaguchi Susumu. Especially, the notion that 'emptiness is form and form is emptiness.' That notion, I think, Professor Yamaguchi was correct in suggesting that notion was relevant to understanding Pure Land Buddhism."
